FCC Mumbai #01 – Opening with Geeta Tandon

The FCC has officially launched its first edition in Mumbai on June 6th. Geeta Tandon, the Bollywood Stuntwoman, was the speaker and shared her story with us.

Geeta Tandon

For our opening in Mumbai, we chose to host our event at the chic and cosy Su Casa in Bandra West.

You were 81 curious women to be present and it was such a pleasure to have you here! In order to celebrate our opening and to thank you for being with us, Kerastase offered you nice hair care products, and Kulture Shop – a collective of indian artists embodied by the amazing Jas – offered you a nice “women & curiosity” set of postcards.

Margaux, the founder of the French Curiosity Club (Paris), was there and wore the wonderful clothes lent by our partner Obataimu, just like all the FCC members.

Seams For Dreams, member of the “Engage by FCC” program, introduced their association and explained our long term partnership. From now on, our guest will indeed have the possibility to come to our events with their old clothes and to give them away to help people in need. And more than 200 pieces of cloth have already been collected at the Opening event, thank you so much for your support!

Then, we carefully listened to Geeta Tandon’s speech. She decided to learn English especially for our event, in order for each Girl to understand her speech. She fought her fears and started to study English for one month, with the help of our wonderful English Teacher Anita! And she actually performed very well, and it helped maintain the authenticity of her story… Many of us became very emotional!

One of the key messages she shared is that we should never let anyone decide for us, whatever the circumstances. No matter how challenging the environment, the life or the people around us, we must always use the strength which lies within us to find a way out… And we might even end up in a really unexpected – but great – place, just like her and the stunts.
The video is going to be released online very soon!

Finally, we all enjoyed nice drinks and good food and met each others.
It has been a beautiful moment, and we are really looking forward to the second event in September.
The icing of the cake?! So many guests came that we were able to offer Geeta extra English lessons as well as one new tattoo 🙂
On top of that, Geeta met the LP4Y association team during the event and will now go to the slums to teach self defense techniques to young ladies. So amazing!!
